In recent years, civil drone 'black flight' and 'indiscriminate flight' caused by aviation disturbances in airports around the world frequently occur.


On Christmas Eve in December 2018, London Gatwick Airport, the UK's second largest airport, was forced to close for nearly 36 hours due to drones flying into the runway. Fifty drones were spotted flying into the airport runway during 24 of those hours alone. The incident caused nearly 1,000 flights and over 100,000 passengers to be affected, and authorities even had to call in air force forces for alert.


In June 2020, Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport was infested with drones, causing the airport to shut down for nearly 2 hours and causing many flights to be delayed and ready for landing.

According to the airport, each incident of flight disruption caused by drones is conservatively estimated to cost the airport 2 million yuan per hour. The 'black flight' chaos has brought huge losses to the aviation industry, and it is urgent to deploy drone defense systems for airports.

In order to further study the challenges, difficulties and solutions of airport low altitude safety management, actively implement the instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on strengthening the professional construction of drones, improve airport drone defense technology, and create a safer airport operating environment, SPBATC signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Anti-Terrorist Headquarters of a provincial public security department in China to jointly build a 'joint experiment project on low altitude defense' around low altitude safety management in airport clearing areas. The two sides launched scientific research on the cooperation of 'low, slow and small' (low-altitude, slow and small targets) drone defense in the airport clear zone, built a drone defense test network of the province's core trunk airports, paired with SPBATC 's drone defense products (passive detection, no interference strikes, no impact on airport scheduling, flight takeoff and landing), and improved the UAV defense system of the target airports has provided a reference for the domestic civil aviation industry.
